I think it is hard for people to keep up with cooking/eating healthy food everyday due to their busy life. Or simply do not know what is good for body and what is harmful for your body. I leaned so many things about food and simply eating healthy when I was pregnant with my daughter 4 years ago. I was craving sweets and foods that contained high in carbohydrates. Yet, when I consumed high in carbohydrates, I was feeling tire, sick with no energy. I kept gaining weight at the rate of 5 lb a week. Then, when I took a glucose test, I was diagnosed with a gestational(pregnancy) diabetes. I was referred to a dietitian and was put on a special diet. Oh yes, I had to learn about good carbs and bad carbs. I did not know that there were food that contains carbs that are quickly digested and it reulted in a spike in blood glucose rise and an increased insulin response. Then I realized that making a wrong food choice caused me to lose my energy and made me feel tired. I am not saying that all carbs are bad, but I think that by eating the right amount of carbs during each meal can help control person's glucose levels and insulin sensitivity response.
My gestational diabetes was temporary. After giving a birth to my daughter, my gestational diabetes disappeared. However with a history of having a diabetic family member, I have a higher chance of developing a diabetes in my later life. I know I have to eat healthy, but with my busy schedule, sometimes it is impossible to eat healthy everyday. I still tends to have meals contained high in carbs and it does make me feel sick sometimes.
