Happy New Year! 2009
Posted December 30th, 2008 by hipmommyIt's a little early, but I just want to wish everyone a happy new year! I have been so sick for several weeks and was not able to write anything on this blog. Today is one of my better days. Ever since I went into my third trimester, I have been very nauseous..... I feel like I am on the ship all day long. Yuck! My in-laws are visiting tomorrow so I am in full speed today trying to clean this house. I still have tons of laundry to do as well
I've been up since 5a.m. and my body is almost ready to shut down. I hope I can get everything done by early tomorrow afternoon. Wish me luck!

Keeping up with diabetes.......
Posted December 7th, 2008 by hipmommyI'm starting to get frustrated with keeping up on my daily 4 times a day gestational diabetes monitoring. Every time I poke my finger with a needle, it hurts! I have to always remember when I ate my last meal so that I can measure my blood sugar exactly at 2 hours after the meal. I have to do this for another 8 weeks and 3 days
I can't even pig out to whatever I want because that will cause my blood sugar level to rise and it will make me feel bad. I hate being pregnant! I keep telling everyone including my husband that I will never ever get pregnant again!!!!!!!! I can't wait for this baby's arrival!!! Wish me luck. Thanks.
Sears Heroes at Home program
Posted November 30th, 2008 by hipmommyThis holiday season Sears is offering a special program called the Sears Heroes at Home program. This program is to support and to fulfill the wishes for military families. It is located at Sears Heroes at Home Wish Registry. Many military families have signed up and each family has their own story to tell about their needs.
My brother was in the Army a few years ago. He was deployed to Iraq so I understand what most military families are going through during the holiday season. Its hard not having their loved ones home. Thankfully, my brother came home safe. I know there are many more American troops out there who will be missing this holiday season with their loved ones. I think that this is a great opportunity for me or anyone out there to help out our heroes who are working hard for our country.
These military family members are not asking for much. Some are asking for a Christmas tree for their kids or kids' shoes, clothing and so forth. There are currently 30,583 military families that we can help just by simply donating at Sears online website. It is a great time to show our "thanks" to our troops and their families. Let's make a difference this holiday season by supporting our military families by visiting Sears Heroes at Home Wish Registry.

Snow heading our way!
Posted November 30th, 2008 by hipmommyI just woke up and checked the forecast for our area.... Well, it looks like that snow is heading our way today. We are also getting a severe weather alert!!!! My daughter & my dogs will be so thrilled to play in the snow but I'm not really looking forward to it. I like snow but I've got so many problems with this pregnancy so I won't be able to go out with my daughter to play..... My husband will be taking her out today. Oh well, I'll just watch them by the window.
A great digital communication services deal
Posted November 29th, 2008 by hipmommy
Are you frustrated with your digital services? Do you think you are paying too much? Charter Communications Services is running a great black friday bundled offer for all your digital services for under $166 a month.
With the new bundled services, you get premium internet speed, premium TV services and unlimited phone service. Its a great buy. Additionally, they are throwing in a free $250 gift card if you sign up soon. When you sign up, you are entered into a free X-box sweepstakes contest. One in every 45 people win a free X-box but everyone gets the free $250 gift card. If you consider the value of the gift card, they are basically throwing in a month and a half for free.
Personally, I know that I am paying more than this for my internet and TV bundle with AT&T. The AT&T package doesn't even come with telephone included. For me, thats an extra $31 extra with my VOIP package. The Charter package is definitely one of the best priced packages around with everything you need.
For me, the most important thing offered is the 10 mbit of high speed internet. That is blazingly fast compared to my previous DSL package. Its on par with the current offering I have today.
The TV has a lot of bundled extras including HDTV, sports and all the premium channels. I don't personally watch the extra channels but the HDTV option is very cool. I am looking forward to HDTV in our almost finished basement.
Check out Charter Communications Ultimate package if you are in the Charter area. Its definitely one of the best priced packages available.

Working hard!
Posted November 29th, 2008 by hipmommyI have been working really hard to keep my blood sugar level normal. I have been eating right, exercising and so on. Toughest part of gestational diabetes is just being hungry all the time but can't over eat. Lately, I've been craving chocolate. I can eat chocolate but I need to watch how much I eat. During snack time, I can only eat up to 30g of carb.... I became an expert in counting carbs now. I have about 9 weeks and 5 days to go to have this baby! I can't wait.
Waking up early in the morning!
Posted November 22nd, 2008 by hipmommyI do not know what it is but I have been waking up really early in the morning for the past few weeks. I am usually down for sleep by 8:30p.m. or 9:00p.m. at night and waking up 5:00a.m. in the morning everyday. I wonder if this pregnancy has something to do with my sleeping pattern. This pregnancy is so much different than my last one. When I was pregnant with my first daughter, I was waking up & sleeping during all kind of hours... I really did not have any routine schedule. This is so weird.I wonder if this baby is going to have a totally upset personality than my oldest one. I just can't wait to meet this baby!
Iron pills
Posted November 21st, 2008 by hipmommyUp until recently I was taking 2 iron pills plus pre-natal vitamins. I was fine at the beginning of this treatment for my anemia problem but last week, I was getting nauseous. I was not sure what making me sick at first. When I told my doctor about it, he thought that I was starting to go through iron overdose...... He reduced my dose to 1 pill a day and thank God I feel like a brand new person!!!! I can't believe the fact that other Doctor was kept telling to take 2 pills a day despite of my sickness. I hate having a team of Doctors!!! Every time I visit for my OB check up, I get a different doctor each time and they all have different opinion on things. I wish they can all talk to each other and agree on things. Anyway, I am so glad that at least I am down to one iron pill a day now. I can't wait for this baby to come out healthy soon!
Strict Diet
Posted November 14th, 2008 by hipmommyYes, I am 28 weeks pregnant however I can't eat everything I want to eat.... As some of you know from my past post, I have developed gestational diabetes. I've visited a diabetes educator early this week and also met with a dietitian. I have been poking my finger 4 times a day 2 hrs after my meal time. Only if my results are under certain blood sugar number, I am allowed to have some snack which contain 15 - 30g of carbohydrate. During a regular meal time(lunch & dinner), I am allowed to have up to 60g of carbohydrate(which is about 4 slices of bread). Yes, I can have a lot of meats and other non-carbohydrate food but I also have to make sure my calorie intake. This diet is so hard. My measuring cup has became my best friend. Now I measure everything I drink or eat. I just can't wait for this baby to born soon! Wish me luck. Thanks!
Battling with gestational diabetes
Posted November 9th, 2008 by hipmommySince I found out about having gestational diabetes on Friday, I have been careful about what I eat during my meal time. This is tough. I've done this diet while I was pregnant with my first child but it is still hard for me to follow. I am only allowed to have about 30g of carb (it is about 2 slices of bread) every time I eat. I can have a lot of meat since it does not contain any carb but I still need to make sure count the calories. I also have to eat stuff that high in iron as well due to anemia. This pregnancy is really tough on me. At least I am some what recovering from my anemia but still not at the normal level. Wish me luck that I can stick with this routine of watching my diet for the next 3 month. Thanks!
Not again! Gestational Diabetes
Posted November 7th, 2008 by hipmommyI went to my 28 weeks diabetes screening test last Tuesday. Well, I got a phone call early this morning from my Doctor with my result. I basically failed my glucose test!!!! Not again!!!!!! I had gestational diabetes with my first daughter and I was hoping that I do not get one this time. I am so upset. I was right at the border line, too. Now I have to go through gestational diabetes education and change my diet. I know the routine but my doctor wants me to get educated about it again to refresh my memory. This pregnancy has been really tough. Now I have anemia, placenta previa and gestational diabetes. I hope that problems stop here. I can't handle anymore complications/problems with this pregnancy! I am also worried about my baby's health as well. Wish me luck to have a nice healthy baby in 13 weeks!
Dressing like a clown
Posted November 2nd, 2008 by hipmommyMy daughter just came into my room very proudly because she just dressed herself. However I had to try not to lough at her.... Her outfit just did not match at all. She was wearing a long sleeve shirt with hearts with a checkered sleeveless summer dress over it. And also was wearing a bright pink sweat pants underneath her dress...... I was trying to make her change but she insisted that she looked pretty and did not want to change. Since she is still only 4 years old, I figured that if she is happy just let her go out like that.... plus this might give her a chance to be a very creative individual!
Eating a lot!
Posted November 2nd, 2008 by hipmommyOh my, I have being eating a lot of food lately. I just have this huge appetite. I just can't stop eating. I know that I am eating for two but I also need to watch out for eating the right food. I am scheduled to have my second glucose test for gestational diabetes. I am hoping that I pass this test. I had a gestational diabetes with my first daughter and it was tough. I do not want to poke my finger and check my blood sugar levels. I also do not want to put on a low carb diet....... so far, I have not had any symptoms of gestational diabetes so I am really hoping that I do not have one. Wish me luck.
PreciousTees
Posted October 31st, 2008 by hipmommyI am finally starting to feel better. I think that my anemia problems is finally going away! I decided to open up a new online store called PreciousTees.com via Spreadshirt company. I have being using cafepress for a long time however I decided to try out spreadshirt company. It seems to me that Spreadshirt has better quality merchandise compare to cafepress. I am adding new designs everyday so if you have a chance, please check out my sore! Thanks!
No School
Posted October 13th, 2008 by hipmommyI am having a huge headache today. Today is Monday and my daughter usually goes to her pre-school in the morning but today(columbus day) she has no school
I do not know what to do with her today. I am still not recovered from my anemia, so I really can't do many activities with her. She has some friends in the neighborhood but her good next door friend is currently at her grandma's place because her mother got hospitalized last week. I might just call around to see if she can have a play date with someone today. I hope that there is someone available to play with her today.
Creating a new logo
Posted October 8th, 2008 by hipmommyI have been trying to come up with a new logo for my online t-shirt shop. I came up with a several designs but I just do not like any one of them. It is so hard to design stuff..... I was like this when I was pregnant with my first daughter as well. Pregnancy sure messes up many things. I forget things, can't focus and so on. Oh and I have been dealing with a backache as well. I can't even site at my computer desk for a long period of time. I just can't wait to have this baby!!!!!!
Crying....
Posted October 7th, 2008 by hipmommyRecently, I have been crying a lot more... This pregnancy is second time around for me but all the sudden I start to worry about things. I am usually crying in the middle of the night. I get worried about if this baby is going to be healthy. I get worried about labor. I get worried about if I'm going to have c-section. And I get worried about many other things that really does not make sense. I hope that I am not getting depressed. I guess being an anemic and diagnosed with a placenta previa is causing to have a lot more fear in me than my last pregnancy. I am getting frustrated with this whole thing. I just can't wait for this baby to born. Wish me luck. Thank you.
My frustration.....
Posted October 2nd, 2008 by hipmommyI am so frustrated with my work at home business. Well, I think it is my fault for not focusing on one thing. I am actually all over the place. Being pregnant is not helping me either. Right now, I work as a freelance graphic designer. I take jobs based on word of mouth. I've done booklet designs, post card designs, t-shirts designs, web designs and other graphic related jobs for my clients. Beside my offline freelance work, I have my own t-shirt shops online. I design t-shirts and sell them. I make decent money from these shops but I know if I put more time and effort into these shops, I can potentially bring in more income. Oh and as you might know, I do profit nice income for blogging, too. I'm juggling to do everything while I take care of my 4 year old as well. I just want to cry right now. I am so disorganized.... Ever since I got pregnant, I can't really focus/concentrate.... I guess I need to sit down to come up with an outline to prioritize things. Wish me luck. Thanks.
My birthday weekend
Posted September 26th, 2008 by hipmommyThis weekend is my birthday weekend. My birthday is on Sunday and I will turn 34 this year
I don't feel 34 and I hate looking at this number. I usually try not to think about my age at all. I keep telling people that I am 27 years old.
My daughter thinks that I am only 4 years old, which is her age...lol Anyway, even though this is my birthday weekend, I am not doing anything special. Well, I just do not have any energy to do anything with this pregnancy. I basically told my husband that I just want a strawberry cheese cake for my birthday and that's about it for my celebration. It is kind of sad but at this point of my pregnancy with all the problems, I really can't do anything....... Oh I forgot to ask. Anyone celebrating birthday this Sunday? So far, I've only met one person that shares the same exact birthday and birth year. It will be cool to find more people who shares the same birthday.
