Wet dogs
Posted April 1st, 2008 by hipmommyOh my, right now my entire house is smelling like a wet dog. Well, it rained yesterday so our backyard is still wet. Our two dogs had a great time playing in the mud and water. I usually wipe them good before they come inside the house, but today, my daughter decided to let them in......
We had mud stains all over on the kitchen floor! I I was not happy that I had to clean up this mess afternoon! Anyway, I wish I can give them a bath now but I just don't have any energy to battle with them. I'm gonna have to deal with this awful smell
My daughter and her dog
Posted March 17th, 2008 by hipmommyI have been trying to teach my daughter to be a responsible person by asking her to feed her 6 year old yellow lab, Mika. Well, Mika used be my dog, but now my daughter claims that it is her dog/best friend. They do everything together. They even sleep together as well. My daughter loves to feed Mika every morning & evening. Just look at the picture below to see how she feeds her dog. Yes, my daughter puts Mika's bowl right on to her lap. Sometimes, I see my daughter hand feeding Mika. I am so glad that we have a such gentle yellow lab, Mika in our household.
I love labrador retreivers!

Barking dog!
Posted February 25th, 2008 by hipmommyMy oldest dog, Mika, has been barking like crazy this morning. She is driving me nuts
I fed her, I gave her water, let her out, I did everything for her, but she just does not stop barking.... Maybe she wants my attention just like a baby? Maybe she wants to play. I sent her outside few minutes ago and she has stopped barking, but I am sure that she will start barking again once she gets back into the house. My youngest dog, Yoda, has been very quiet this mornig. I wish Mika can be just like Yoda. Oh no, I just heard Mika's barking sound outside, I better go downtairs and get her.
Sad looking dogs....
Posted February 11th, 2008 by hipmommyOur dogs have been looking very sad since my husband left this morning. I guess they are so used to him working from home, so maybe they are concered about this change. Well, my husband will be commuting to his office for the next 2 weeks so that he can train a new guy. I wonder if our dogs are going to get used to this..... my older dog has been constantly looking out the window and the younest dog has been staying in my husband's home office. I feel bad for them for missing my husband. I hope they get used to this soon.
Working hard on my new website!
Posted February 5th, 2008 by hipmommyAs I stated before, I have been working hard on designing my new website dedicated to my two yellow labs. I have hoping to launch this new site last month, but it never happened. It is so hard to juggle to do so many things at one time. Well, I just want other people's opinion on my site. Please visit http://www.myyellowlab.com and tell me if you like it or not. I know I know, I have been already told by one of my friends that the site design is girly, but hey I am a girl and my main target audience for this yellow lab site are going to be women, so please bare with me. Anyway, I am looking forward to hear comments and suggestions for my new website!

Shredded paper!
Posted January 11th, 2008 by hipmommyOnce again, my dogs got into my daughters stuff. This time, they shredded her coloring books!!!! I usually tell my daughter to clean up after herself because dogs will destroy her toys and stuff but, my daughter decided leave all her coloring books right on the floor. What a mess! When I entered into my daughter's room, there were shredded paper every where!!!! I was so mad, but I did not catch my dogs in action, so I really could not do anything about it. At least I made my daughter to clean up the mess. I need to restrict my dogs' access to certain rooms so that we don't get things destroyed. I really feel like I am taking care of 4 kids( daughter, husband and 2 dogs) everyday!
New blog dedicated to my dogs!
Posted January 3rd, 2008 by hipmommyI am currently designing my blog dedicated to my two yellow labs. I created my logo/header for the site last night and am very happy with it. I think I can get this blog up and going live sometime in early next week. I hope that other yellow lab lovers or dog lovers can enjoy my site in the future. I just love dogs/animals and I thought that opening up a site dedicated to my dogs is a perfect idea. In addition, my Labrador Retriever related t-shirts that I design/sell via cafepress are doing well. This is another reason why I wanted to make a separate website/blog...... Please stay tuned for my website and wish me luck.
My lazy labs!
Posted December 21st, 2007 by hipmommyAs you can see on my picture below, I have two lazy yellow labs...lol They are usually chasing each other or going up and down the stairs but they were very quiet tonight. I did not realize that both of them were just taking it easy in my husband's work office. Look at my oldest lab, Mika, laying down comfortably on our extra bed that we have for the guest!!!! And our youngest lab, Yoda, he has to lay down on something soft, so I guess he has managed to pull some part of the comforter down on the floor. Lazy dogs!!! Now I have to wash these comforter, sheets, and pillow cover again!!!!!
I am getting sick......Help!
Posted December 21st, 2007 by hipmommyOh my, last few days I have been staying up to take care of my sick daughter. She has been coughing & vomiting. She is doing much better this morning, but I am getting sick now. I don't feel so good:-( I've got stuffy nose, achy body and so on..... My husband is also getting sick. I can't believe that this is happening to us right before Christmas. This is going to be a very very long day. My husband's parents are flying in this Sunday and his Uncle & Aunt are driving out here on the day after Christmas. My house is a jungle right now. Things everywhere. I was supposed to clean this week, but because of my daughter being sick, nothing got done. My dogs have been getting into my daughter's bathroom hamper and pulling out her socks. They are not helping the situation. Well, now I have to go around the entire house to find my daughter's missing socks:-( I need a major help getting this house ready for Christmas. On top of everything, I have my blogging work, freelance graphic work, and many other work that I have to do to maintain to earn my extra income. Hope I can get everything done. Wish me luck!
My dogs ate my daughter's crayons!
Posted November 20th, 2007 by hipmommyI dropped off my daughter this morning at her pre-school this morning. When I came home after that, I noticed a shredded crayon box right in middle of my living room along with other shredded paper. My daughter was using crayons at her little table in the living room, but she left them right on her table. But now, her crayons are no where to be found. I realized that as soon as I came home, my 2 dogs immediately went upstairs, remember, these dogs usually greet me at the door. I think that 2 dogs worked together and made this mess. I suspect that my youngest lab(Yoda) got the crayons off of my daughters little table and the older lab(Mika) ate the crayons. I will never find out what exactly happened this morning, but I hope none of my dogs are going get sick for eating crayons........... I am really not in the mood to clean up their vomit today:-(
Hug your pet(s)!
Posted November 18th, 2007 by hipmommy
I have been so busy lately with my work and taking care of my daughter. I just realized that I was not spending enough quality time with my dogs. Well, while I was working this evening (stressed out!) and when I looked over my shoulder, I saw my 6 year old lab(Mika) sleeping peacefully on my bed. When I looked at her, I immediately thought that I needed to take a break..... I got up from my computer desk and hugged her. It felt so good. I fell a sleep with her for about 30 minutes.....look at the picture that my hubby took. My husband thought that it was cute that I was taking a quick nap with Mika.
Oh, sometimes Mika turns into my therapist, too. Whenever I am feeling down, she is there to cheer me up. For the past 6 years, she has been always there for me and I appreciate her 100%. She is a great pet, a great friend and a great family member. I am sure that many of you own pet(s) and feel the same way I do. If you haven't hugged your pet today, please do so. They bring you a lot of love and joy everyday, so return that love and joy right back to them by hugging them :-)
My little girl & her best friend Mika
Posted November 14th, 2007 by hipmommy
My husband got my daughter ready for bed last night. When he was ready to tuck her in bed, my daughter did not want him in the room. All she wanted in her room was her precious 6 year old yellow lab, Mika. Just look at this picture! They sleep like this every night together. Mika usually gets off of my daughter's bed once she falls a sleep, but lately, Mika has been sleeping through the night with my daughter. We are so blessed to have Mika as our family member:-)
Princess Mika, the Yellow Lab
Posted November 6th, 2007 by hipmommy
As most of you know from past posts, we own two yellow labs at our household. Poeple think we are crazy to have 2 labs, but we love our dogs. The lab that you see on the picture is my 6 years old female lab. Her name is Mika. Ever since my daughter was born, Mika has been very gentle to her. She follows my daughter everywhere and keeps an eye on her to make sure that my daughter is safe. Mika also lets my daughter do anything to her. Mika was taking a nap on my bed this afternoon and my daughter decided to put a tiara on Mika's head. Doesn't she look cute? I had to take Mika's picture and post it on this blog. She is my daughter's precious dog and we love her very much.
Yorkie Puppies
Posted October 31st, 2007 by hipmommyI am a dog lover and I am thinking about getting a new puppy for myself:-) I have been keep telling my husband that I want a small dog like Yorkie. I love my 2 yellow labs that we have now, but our older lab is attached to my daughter & a younger lab is attached to my husband. I just want a dog of my own.....
Anyways, there is a breeder called Salt Creek kennel that has Yorkie puppy for sale. I went to their website and it seems like that they are very reputable. As I read their info, I found out that they are a certified USDA kennel and they care about quality of their puppies. It is always good to know about breeder's certifications and qualifications before purchasing a puppy.
In addition to their qualifications, Salt Creek Kennel raises their puppies at their home which is located in about 20 miles east of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Which means that their puppies are well socialized. They are very proud of what they do and very committed to their customers satisfactions.
I'm going to talk to my husband and see what he thinks of getting me a dog. If you are intersted in a new smal dog, take a look at Yorkie puppy for sale @ Salt Creek Kennel.

My good dogs
Posted October 4th, 2007 by hipmommyMy daughter's friend and her brother came to visit our house today. I was afraid of my dogs jumping on them, so I had them in the cage when they arrived. Surprisingly, our dogs were calm and did not cause any problems. I got them out of the cage after few minutes and they were just fine. My older dog even let the little boy sin on her back for a little bit. I showed the kids some of her tricks and they were very happy. My older dog can play dead, high five, crawl, and speak.... She used to be able to rollover, but she no longer does it. I think she is getting old. Anyway, we had a lot of fun playing with the dogs today.
Poor Yoda
Posted July 23rd, 2007 by hipmommyI was up late last night because my 2 year old yellow lab, Yoda was vomiting multiple times. He actually fainted once right after he vomited last night. I was in panic. Yoda picked his face up right away, but he just did not look right at all. My husband took him to the vet first thing in the morning today..... our vet could not figure out what was wrong with him and just thought that he may have eaten something that upset his stomach. Yoda was treated for dehydration. He got I.V. fluid, shots, and some other medications.
My 5 year old lab
Posted June 28th, 2007 by hipmommyThis is a video of my 5 year old lab. She is very sweet and I taught her several tricks when she was a puppy. One of her tricks is to play dead when I say "Bang!" She is so cute isn't she? Oh, please ignore the last few seconds of this video where I say "Stop!"
In addition to "playing dead" she can do high five, knows numbers(when I say "say 1" she will bark once, "say 2" she will bark twice and so on....) and she knows roll over command. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with arthritis, so she does not do much of the roll over command anymore. Anyway, hope you guys enjoy this video!
I Love Labradors!
I'm being late
Posted June 20th, 2007 by hipmommyI'm supposed to go over to the neighbor's house right now, but I've got my PPP opportunities that I can't pass up. I think I'm going to be late going there. Well, I have to do this.
Yuck! Oh my God, one of our dogs just threw up! Why now? I better get that cleaned up so that our carpet won't get stained! I hate when these things happen at the last minute!
